FLOWERS - 30 Day Challenge

Lavender is what I chose to photograph for my flower subject, this isn't something I have seen much of in Saskatchewan. I love the lavender bushes we have growing on our patio in BC they look fantastic and smell even better!

SMILE - 30 Day Photography Challenge

I had hoped to capture my oldest son with one of his "light up the room" smiles, but anyone who has teenagers will understand that getting your teen to smile on command and capture it in a photograph is about as difficult as trying to capture a glimpse of the elusive ogopogo here in the Okanagan! So I will post pictures of my teenager trying not to smile, I've also included a picture of my daughter who for the record is not even remotely stingy with her smiles!

BOOKS - 30 Day Challenge

I was looking forward to photographing today's subject because I always find it easier to photograph something (or someone) that I love and I love books. I am an avid reader, I even packed all of the books I wanted to read this summer in their very own suitcase and brought them to Kelowna with me. I also included my iPad in this shot because I read a lot of books on there as well. What books are on your summer reading list?

FAVORITE FOOD - 30 Day Challenge

I could have shot any number of things for this subject because food IS my favorite subject; I love to cook and I love to eat! What I choose to photograph is something I really enjoy munching on while we are vacationing in BC, in fact two of the cheeses are local. I have three nice pieces of cheese a local camembert, a local goat cheese and a piece of gouda, there are also some kalamata olives, a fig balsamic spread and some Raincrisp Coasts, delicious! Oh, and you'll also notice the freshly poured glass of wine, that's another local treat, Cedar Creek Chardonnay! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't eating this special treat at this very moment while blogging, yummy! Can't wait to see your favorite foods.

CLOUDS - 30 Day Photography Challenge

Clouds is the subject today, after being mostly overcast all day the sun finally came out and allowed me to get a shot of some white, fluffy clouds. It may be hard to see in the below picture, but the water is incredibly rough today it's been very windy here which is unusual for Kelowna. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that this nasty BC weather turns soon and we are back to our hot, sunny lake days.

Tomorrow's subject is your favourite food, if you enjoy food, this is an easy one! I hope to see some of your images, just take your daily photo and upload it to your blog, Flickr page, or Facebook album you can then leave a link back to your photo in the comments of that day's blog post. This is all for fun, you do not need to be an experienced or professional photographer (I certainly am not), you don't have to have a fancy camera to participate in the challenge, your images can even be from you camera phone! It's just interesting seeing other peoples perspective on the same subject, so getting shooting and sharing!

Movement - 30 Day Challenge

Day 2 and the subject is Movement. I had hoped to get a nice shot of the waves coming in off the lake, but the day proved to be too calm for that, not that I'm complaining, I'll take a calm day at the lake over a rough one anytime!

My movement image is of my youngest son riding his bike, I used the panning technique to capture this image. While my son rode his bike I moved my camera and shot at the same time, you see a bit of movement on his bike tires, but you really get the feeling of movement because he is in focus but the background is blurred because my camera was moving with him.

On another note, isn't this kid just the cutest! I know I may be a bit partial given I am his mother, but seriously he really is the cutest lil thing; even when he's riding his bike and not at all paying attention to where he is going, therefore giving his mother a heart attack, but said mother just holds her breath and continues shooting away with her camera hoping to not capture the great fall of Summer 2012!

RED - 30 Day Photography Challenge

Day one of the 30 Day Photography Challenge has us shooting the colour red, how easy is this one for us Canadians! Happy Canada Day to everyone. Myself and my family enjoyed a great day at the lake; I was hoping to make it to our local park to partake in the Canada festivities, but the cool lake on a hot July day won out over the park. My first shot for the challenge is of our very red, festive cupcakes with our Canada day feast and the lake seen in the background. I hope all of you enjoyed your Canada Day as much as I did!
